A4 to 4×6 PDF Conversion Guide: No-Blur Thermal Printing for Sellers

The Math Behind A4 to 4×6 Conversion

An A4 sheet measures 210 × 297 mm (8.27 × 11.69 inches), whereas a standard thermal label sticker measures 101.6 × 152.4 mm (4 × 6 inches). If you scale an entire A4 order down to 4×6 without cropping, the barcode shrinks to less than 35% of its intended width, resulting in unreadable thin barcode bars.

Cropping isolates only the label rectangle (roughly 4×6 aspect ratio) from the full sheet, allowing it to print at true 100% scale.

Avoiding Antialiasing Blur on Thermal Printers

Thermal printers do not produce grayscale ink dots — each thermal printhead pin is either on (hot) or off (cool). When an image or PDF with gray antialiasing is sent, the printer driver creates dithering (a checkerboard of dots) that makes barcode edges fuzzy. LabelCropper preserves pure black-and-white vector rendering so every line is solid and sharp.
